The Male Form - August 5-17 - An exhibition featuring a variety of images and sculptures of men, begins. The exhibition was spurred by several artists who wanted to show an appreciation for guys. Since so many works of art praise women’s’ bodies, many artists felt it was time to give men their just due.

Prominently featured will be the newest works by artist Bea Doone-Merena, an 87-year-old mother of 10 who began painting in her mid-60s. Sculptor Beatriz Beckers and painter Maria Paz will also have their works featured.

About 20 artists’ works will be on display, ranging from photographs to sculptures. A wine and cheese reception with the artists will be held on opening night.

The show, which is free, is scheduled to run through Aug. 15. The gallery is on 15 South J Street. For more information call Joyce Brown, 215-205-9441.
