Speak Their Names
Speak Their Names - Aug 19 - Sep 6 - Artists
traditionally speak out against injustices in our society. Artists use
their talents to bring about change, end racism and to work for peace
and social justice. We have asked artist Kianga Jinaki Parker to curate
an invitational show titled "Speak Their Names. |
The Male Form
The Male Form - August 5-17 - An exhibition featuring a variety of
images and sculptures of men, begins. The exhibition was spurred by
several artists who wanted to show an appreciation for guys. Since so
many works of art praise women’s’ bodies, many artists felt it was time
to give men their just due. Prominently featured will be the newest works by artist Bea Doone-Merena, an 87-year-old mother of 10 who began painting in her mid-60s. Sculptor Beatriz Beckers and painter Maria Paz will also have their works featured. About 20 artists’ works will be on display, ranging from photographs to sculptures. A wine and cheese reception with the artists will be held on opening night. The show, which is free, is scheduled to run through Aug. 15. The gallery is on 15 South J Street. Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
Artists throughout Palm Beach County welcome Spring with works of art, that include an abundance of flowers, and flowered themes. Potters are busy making Ikebanas, pottery used in Japanese Flower displays, for special floral arrangements. Painters and photographers will fill the walls with a cacophony, or riot of color and design. Professional flower arrangers will be using fresh flowers to demonstrate flower design, and fresh flowers will be for sale to fill the beautiful pottery that will be on display. The exhibition opens on Friday, April 22 from 6-10 PM and runs through Wednesday, May 4. The Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery is located at 15 South J Street in Downtown Lake Worth. Parking is free. |
There'll Be No More Horsing Around
Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery has lassoed artists throughout
Palm Beach County who will be corralling artworks featuring Horses, Horses and
more Horses. "There'll Be No More Horsing Around" This will
be the gallery's first annual exhibit with a "Horse" theme. That artists are
equestrian enthusiasts has become evident. Many artists working within the
Flamingo Clay Studio have been creating works of art featuring horses, since the
studio's inception. Now the gallery has put out a call to artists throughout
the county to share in this celebration. The exhibit open on Friday, April 8th
at 6PM with a wine, cheese, hay and oats reception. The exhibit continues
through Wednesday, April 20. |
